Our Story

Building meaningful communication through collaboration, science, and clinical expertise.

A vision rooted in human connection.

Integrated Speech & Behavior began with a clear focus: supporting non-speaking children who relied on AAC to be heard.

As we evolved, we realised that the most powerful breakthroughs happen at the intersection of learning science and behavioral analysis.

Today, we bridge the gap between technical expertise and emotional care, ensuring every child can participate meaningfully in their world.

Our Journey

Integrated Speech & Behavior began with a simple but powerful belief:

Every child deserves the opportunity to communicate, and the professionals who know how to teach them.

For our founder, Amy Fetter, that belief took shape early. As a graduate student at CU Boulder, she was introduced to the world of AAC and quickly realized she had found her life’s work. She was both fascinated and unsettled by the reality that something as fundamental as communication could be out of reach for so many individuals.

After graduation, Amy immersed herself in supporting children who were non-speaking or minimally verbal. She joined the Assistive Technology Team in Cherry Creek School District and began working with children using speech-generating devices throughout her day and beyond. She was driven to make communication more accessible, more efficient, and more meaningful for the children and families she served.

As her clinical experience grew, so did her questions. Many of the children she worked with were not making the progress she knew was possible. It became clear that knowing what to teach was not enough. She needed to understand how children learn. Read More…

That realization led her to pursue training in Applied Behavior Analysis. Not as a separate discipline, but as a science of learning that could strengthen and refine communication intervention. This shift transformed her clinical approach, allowing her to teach communication with greater clarity, structure, and effectiveness.

In 2014, Amy became a Board Certified Behavior Analyst and formally established Integrated Speech & Behavior as a behaviorally informed speech therapy practice. From the beginning, the model was intentional: provide high-quality speech therapy grounded in learning science, delivered in the environments where children learn best. Services began in children’s homes and expanded into partnered ABA centers across the Denver area, always with a focus on meaningful, measurable progress.

Over time, the work evolved beyond direct therapy. The IS&B team became increasingly aware that many speech-language pathologists and behavior analysts were working toward the same goals without a shared framework. This led to a deeper commitment to collaboration. Through consultation, training, and ongoing dialogue, IS&B began supporting not only children but also the clinicians and teams around them.

As service models in Colorado shifted, IS&B adapted thoughtfully. The practice expanded to include in-home services, therapy within ABA centers when appropriate, and a broader range of supports, including family coaching, consultation, and professional training. This allowed the team to reach more children and provide support beyond traditional therapy models.

At the heart of IS&B is its team. Thoughtful, curious, and deeply committed clinicians who care about doing this work well. They are lifelong learners who think critically, collaborate openly, and continually refine their approach. They bring both skill and humanity to their work, creating an environment that is professional, supportive, and genuinely enjoyable for families and colleagues alike.

Now, as Integrated Speech & Behavior continues to grow, that growth remains intentional. The focus is not on scale for its own sake, but on maintaining quality, integrity, and connection. The right clinicians, the right partnerships, and the right opportunities to make a meaningful impact.

The foundation of the practice remains the same as it was at the beginning: build systems that support clinicians, teach communication with purpose, collaborate across disciplines, and always center the child.

Meet The Founder

We grow intentionally, not rapidly. Expansion is never the primary goal; excellence is. We grow only when we find the right therapist to join our mission – someone who shares our vision for integration.
